Lack of Sleep.

Let's talk sleep.  I have not been having much luck at it lately.  I don't know if it's an age thing, a hereditary thing (my dad was not much of a sleeper) or just a stress thing, but lately if I get 4-5 hours a night I am lucky.  It is strange because I don't feel particularly tired during the day, just sort of listless and disinterested (could be that things are just not that interesting). I put it down to lack of exercise as I have been very slack of late, but I took some long walks over the last few days and all I get is a sore body and still no luck sleeping for more than 5 hours a night.

This morning I woke up at 3am. My body was actually sore from sleeping. I checked my watch before falling asleep and it was just after 11pm.  I had to get up and walk around as I cound not spend another minute lying down. I went downstairs, read my email, drank some water and read the newspapers. Then I managed to convince myself to lie on my bed and forced myself to rest for another hour before going off to work.

I think this lack of sleep is starting to affect my performance, so I'm asking for advice from all (both) of you that happen to read this.  Ideas?

It all boils down to a very simple equasion:

Lack of Sleep = Flock of Sheep
-so start counting!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck and sweet dreams,

I'm suffering the same thing. In my case, it has been diagnosed as sleep apnoea, so now I'm trying these horrendounds CPAP devices with not much success yet.

In general, I think you need a sleep study - you go to hospital, they wire you up with all manner of monitors, put you in a room and watch you 'sleep'. Good luck sleeping in such conditions, I didn't much...

As I remember Dad had no trouble with falling asleep early and getting up early. He generally was able to get an adequate night's sleep. Now Uncle Gus and Aunt Sally, those are folks who did not sleep. In fact according to our family folklore, Uncle Gus hadn't slept in many years.

It's true, Uncle Gus claimed he never slept a wink since 1972.

I can attest the fact that BPO does not sleep anymore.
I must say, that by 10:30pm he is sleeping, so falling asleep is not the problem. Waking up at 4:30 am HAS to stop tho, as I get to sleep around 1 am and waking up around 4ish is really annoying.
I suggest meditating. Or playing solitaire. or listening to a boring lecture on the ipod.
works for me.
